Swimming with pigs in the Bahamas

I think it’s healthy to get away at least 2 times a year. I love beach vacations, and going to places I haven’t been to before. (Especially when there’s an ice storm back home in mid April.)

I spent the past week in Nassau, Bahamas. The water was crystal clear and the weather was a perfect 85 degrees and sunny everyday! There was so much I loved about this trip, but swimming with pigs (yes, pigs) was definitely a highlight.

We did an excursion to a “pig beach” in the Exuma Cays. The boat ride from Nassau took more than one hour, and it was totally worth it even though the water was choppy.

When you pull up on the boat, these massive pigs swim right out to you! They live on this uninhabited island and know they’re going to be fed when tourists arrive. We fed the big pigs carrots, and the piglets bread. At one point I was surrounded by 5 massive pigs and hid behind the boat staircase, LOL. I was a little afraid! The come right up to you, mouth open and all.

It was hilarious! I definitely recommend doing this excursion in the Bahamas! On this same excursion, we also fed iguanas and swam with sharks.
