Turks and Caicos

I’ve vacationed in several Caribbean destinations including Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas and most recently – Turks and Caicos.

Each place is beautiful in it’s own right, no question. In my opinion, Turks and Caicos is a standout with beautiful white sand beaches and turquoise crystal clear water. There’s a line up of hotels and resorts right on Grace Bay Beach. I booked Royal West Indies through Jet Blue Vacations – it’s an easy way to book a vacation package and earn points for future plane tickets and vacations! You just have to do some research to make sure you’re getting what you want out of the experience.

I’m a total beach bum, and spend several hours at the beach when I visit a Caribbean destination like Turks. The routine: walking the beach, laying out on the beach chair and dipping in the water to go for a swim when it feels too hot. (You have to take SPF very seriously because it’s easy to forget how intense the sun can be, especially when you’ve spent 6 months in colder Northeast weather.)

As much as I love to relax – I love ‘bucket list’ experiences. When I heard about Provo Ponies I knew I had to try it!

I went horseback riding right on the beach in the water! I went out with a group of at least 10 people. Our horses brought us through a path to the beach. The whole ride was about 1 hour. I was nervous because I do not have much experience riding horses. But staff taught us how to control the horse’s movements before the ride began and assigned us horses based on our comfort level. I lucked out by getting to ride ‘Chino’ – a calm horse kids usually ride. He briefly tried to race other horses in the water. Too funny! Such a cool experience, I highly recommend this excursion in Turks and Caicos.

Most hotels and resorts in Turks and Caicos are not all inclusive. My mom and I enjoyed checking out different restaurants at other resorts. This sunrise photo was taken from Infiniti at Grace Bay Club. The BEST view and delicious food. We loved the kale salad and the steak cooked to perfection. We also loved the food and cocktails at Coco Bistro.

Overall, Turks and Caicos was like a dream. Beautiful destination. Pricier than some other spots in the Carribbean – but so worth it!
